Sometimes the most extraordinary adventures begin with a simple “meow.”

That’s exactly how one cyclist’s round-the-world journey took an unexpected turn when a persistent feline decided to crash his solo expedition.

While pedaling along his planned route, Dean (the cyclist) heard an unusual sound trailing behind him – a determined little kitten was following his bike, “meowing her heart out.” Initially reluctant to take on a furry companion, Dean’s conscience wouldn’t let him leave the abandoned cat to fend for herself in the middle of nowhere.

“My first thought was that I wasn’t going to take her,” Dean recalls in the video, “but I just couldn’t leave Nala there on her own.”

What started as a temporary arrangement quickly turned into something special when the kitten, now named Nala, decided that the front bag wasn’t quite comfortable enough.

Instead, she claimed Dean’s shoulder as her preferred perch, while he was cycling!

My first thought was that I wasn’t going to take her,”

“but I just couldn’t leave Nala there on her own.”

The spontaneous addition of Nala completely transformed the nature of Dean’s journey. After getting her a passport and microchip, this unlikely duo has been inseparable.

Rather than rushing to complete his round-the-world route, Dean found himself slowing down to ensure his feline friend could enjoy the adventure too. “I’m not really bothered how long it takes,” he admits, “I just watch Nala enjoy it.”

Perhaps most surprisingly, Nala has proven to be an excellent travel companion, staying calm even while cycling through busy cities. Their bond has grown so strong that Dean eventually made the journey home through several countries just so his family could meet his unexpected travel buddy.

Know someone who needs their daily dose of wholesome adventure?

Share Nala and Dean’s story ๐Ÿ‘‡ – because sometimes the best travel companions come with four paws and a passport.
