A cyclist’s terrifying encounter with an angry bull has sparked heated debate online after video footage captured the moment a leisurely ride turned into a life-threatening chase.

The incident, which occurred on what appears to be a rural path, shows a cyclist attempting to pass a solitary bull standing in the middle of the route.

“If only he would have just yelled out ‘on your left’ and pushed his little thumb bell thingy.”

How it started

The video begins innocently enough, with the cyclist pedaling toward the massive animal. Within seconds, the bull charges, forcing the rider off their bike and then charged again while on the ground, while onlookers shout helplessly.

The footage has racked up over 1,600 upvotes on Reddit at time of writing, where users were quick to weigh in on the cyclist’s decision-making.

“Idk man I see a big ass animal by itself i tend not to go directly at it oh and from behind wtf,” commented user 401jamin, capturing what many viewers were thinking.

The sentiment was echoed by small_Jar_of_Pickles, who noted, “People regularly get injured or even killed by cows in the alps. And while sometimes you can just be unlucky, i feel like a lot of times its because of behaviour like this. Underestimating a 500kg animal.”

Criticism

The criticism was blunt. “Survival skills of a goldfish,” wrote one commenter. Another declared it “the most cyclist thing I’ve ever seen. MFer with the ‘I have the right of way’ mindset against a bull.” User callawake didn’t mince words: “That guy is a f***ing idiot.”

Yet not everyone was entirely unsympathetic. “LOL at the witnesses shouting, ‘Hey, hey, no!’ as if they’re Dr. Dolittle,” joked phlostonsparadise123, highlighting the absurdity of the entire situation. Others pointed to a broader pattern of people underestimating livestock.

“A lot of people have gotten way too comfortable being around wild animals thinking the world is a Disney movie or some s**t,” UNlT observed.

The consensus, however, remained firm: “cyclists fault,” declared one user. The incident serves as a stark reminder that bulls – unlike car drivers or pedestrians – don’t recognize bike lanes, hand signals, or the unwritten rules of the road. As one commenter sarcastically suggested, “If only he would have just yelled out ‘on your left’ and pushed his little thumb bell thingy.”

Fortunately, the cyclist escaped with their life. The bull, presumably, went about its day unbothered.
