Shockingly, the driver and passengers didn’t just flee the scene, in fact, they laughed about it on camera.

Victim’s Condition Takes Dangerous Turn

The 41-year-old cyclist initially appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries when paramedics arrived.

His condition deteriorated rapidly during transport to the hospital before eventually stabilizing.

Video Evidence Exposes Callous Attack

Edmonton police released two pieces of footage that paint a disturbing picture. Security camera footage captured the SUV swerving into the cyclist before speeding away.

But it’s the second video that’s truly sickening. Shot from inside the vehicle and later posted to social media, it captures someone laughing as the cyclist goes down.

Police Express Outrage

“a disturbing disregard for human life”

Acting Staff Sgt. Richard Windover didn’t mince words about what he saw. “It’s incredibly disturbing to see such disregard for life captured on video simply for online entertainment,” he said in a statement.

He called the footage “a disturbing disregard for human life” when speaking with CBC News. The fact that someone thought this was worth sharing online makes it even worse.

Call for Public Assistance

Police need your help tracking down these individuals. “We’re asking anyone who can recognize the voices or identities of the individuals in this video to contact police immediately,” Windover stated.

Anyone with dash-cam or security footage from Beverly Heights between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on August 4th should contact Edmonton police. Even seemingly minor details could help identify the dark-colored SUV and its occupants.

This wasn’t just a hit-and-run. This was someone treating another human being’s life like a joke, and they need to be held accountable.
