A heated road rage incident in Utah escalated when 73-year-old cyclist Gary Peacock confronted 22-year-old driver Pierce Kempton after feeling passed too closely.
The encounter, captured on dashcam and police bodycam, shows Peacock physically blocking Kempton’s exit and calling police.
Ironically, Peacock received the citation for disorderly conduct while Kempton’s citation was dropped.
What Happened?
The incident began when Kempton passed Peacock on his way to a skate park, leading to a dramatic escalation that involved dashcam footage and newly released police bodycam video.
The confrontation quickly intensified after Kempton pulled over, claiming he had dashcam evidence.
Cyclist Peacock then physically blocked Kempton from exiting his car and proceeded to call the police, accusing Kempton of being an “aggressive teenager” who “almost hit” him and was attempting to leave.
Heated Exchange
Kempton remarked that Peacock had “his hands on me,” while Peacock also recorded the driver, labelling him “a jerk”. The situation remained heated until police arrived to intervene.
At Fault
Ultimately, the officer found both men at fault. Kemptonโs initial citation for passing too close to a bicycle was later dropped.
However, Gary Peacock, the older cyclist, received a citation for disorderly conduct. He attempted to apologise upon realising he would be cited, but the officer stated it was “too late” given the evidence.
Peacock ultimately apologised, and Kempton felt “justified” as “the tables were certainly turned on him”
